  • Johannes Kepler is born to a poor family on December 27, 1571, in the Holy Roman Empire of German Nationality. 
  • Kepler was a sickly child, but his obvious intelligence earned him a scholarship. He then went on to teach math in Graz.
  • Tycho Brahe, it would be an honor to work with you, a renowned Danish astronomer, here in Prague. 
  • Following Brahe's death, Kepler took his position as Imperial Mathematician in 1601.
  • In 1605 he announced   "The First Law", which was that planets move in ellipses with the sun at one focus.
  • Something about the previous theories seems false.
  • The squares of the periodic times are to each other as the cubes of the mean distances.
  • Kepler's Third Law was published in 1619 and it later led Newton to his Law of Gravitation. 
  • I'm living in poverty, and have a disease I cannot cure. 
  • Kepler died on November 15, 1630, at Regensburg, Germany, due to an acute disease.
