Jimmy is a fireman that works in the city. He got a call one day that a fire occurred in an apartment building. There was only 1 person left in the building and she was on the top floor about to burn alive. Jimmy went to work.
Now that Jimmy is getting the ladder, he will need to figure out how tall the building is. He is standing 15 feet away from the building and he is looking at the fire at a 64-degree angle. So he uses the trig function TAN. Tan64=x/15 which equals 35.2 feet.
GET THE LADDER!!!
Now that he has the height, he needs the distance from him to the window that the girl is in. He uses the same angle as he did last time and uses the trig function SIN. He does Sin64=15/x and equals 16.3 feet. Now he can lay out the ladder.
