Thanks to the practice Mrs. Baker had given him earlier, he was more confident and played Ariel better than he ever did before during the play. He didn't care about whether or not his classmates were there, and because of his outstanding performance, he got a standing ovation .
After the play, Holling's dad was supposed to bring him to the stadium in time to visit the baseball star, Mickey Mantle, but Holling's dad was no where to be found after the play, therefore Holling had only one option, take the bus.
The bus driver eventually agreed to dropping off Holling at the stadium, but his luck soon took a turn as Holling realized that he did not have a baseball for Mickey Mantle to sign. Holling's luck didn't stay on the bad side for long as the bus driver gave him a new baseball from his stash of forgotten things.
