The outer frame - the Time Traveller explains to a group of friends that he believes in a fourth dimension, through which it is possible to time travel. A week later he begins to tell the story of his time travel.
He finds the Eloi to be happy and healthy but considers their state a “sunset” of humanity because everything harmful seems to have been eliminated erasing the intellectual curiosity, passion, and energy.

The Eloi live in once-grand buildings, speak another language, and eat exotic fruits.
The TT finds the time machine missing, and he deduces that it has been dragged inside the pedestal of a colossal statue.
The Time Machine must be inside
The TT discovers odd well-like structures, ventilation towers, and industrial noises coming from below the surface of the ground.
These noises are faitly familiar. They sound like an over crouder construction site.
