After Twenty Years by O. Henry
I wonder what he's doing?
It's alright, officer!
I’m waiting for a friend. We agreed to meet here tonight.
Twenty years ago tonight I had dinner here with Jimmy Wells.
He was my very best friend and the best man in the world.
We agreed that we would meet here again in twenty years. We thought that in twenty years we would know what kind of men we were!
Sounds like a long time! Did you keep in touch?
We wrote to each other for a couple years but we lost touch.
But I know that Jimmy will come! He was a true man. He'll keep his word.
But the West was big. I moved everywhere, and quite quickly at that!
