I am just so excited that you called this meeting for my little boy. I know he's been the best in the class but I didn't want to toot our horns until you confirmed it! What's next? A party? A trophy?
I'm so sorry Ms. Fae. I actually called this meeting because Eustace is very bright but his effort has dropped recently and I wanted to work together to come up with some solutions.
Here we go again with the water works...
Would you like a tissue?
*uncomfortably sobs for 7 minutes*
Ms. Fae, I understand that you may be feeling upset right now. This is not the end, though. I want to understand your concerns so that we can come up with some ways to help Eustace in class.
Now she knows exactly how I felt when I was old enough to comprehend that she named me Eustace...
Do you mind if I make a few minor suggestions that can be done at home? I think they'd help Eustace regain his confidence and improve in class.
I mean...I guess I could try to cut down on watching "The Real House-Fairies of Dublin" and pay attention to him at home.
Thank you both for investing in me and my success. Sometimes I don't know how to express it but I do appreciate it.
Uhh...great! I'd recommend reading with him as often as possible. If you can, take him to the bookstore and allow him to pick out books he wants. I encourage you to ask him questions before, during, and after reading together. Eustace loves telling stories in class, so I'd also encourage him to tell you stories as he feels inspired. If you would like to use technology, epic! is a great app that has a lot of genres. Do you have any questions or concerns?
Wow! I feel so much better. I can't wait to work with my son!!
