The gate to the underworld is guarded by Cerberous. Orpheus was quick witted and played music to allow Orpheus to enter the underworld. Just as Orpheus predicted, the Cerberous gave in just like the Chanon the ferryman. Now Orpheous is getting one step closer to saving his wife.
The Road Back
Orpheus has gotten past multiple obsticles further reaching Hades. Later, Orpheus found the queen of the underworld, Persephone, where he explained his story and played his irresistible music. Persephone was hooked and decided to strike a deal. At the time of the deal, Persephone was aware of the consequences following the deal, but stayed true to her words.
The Resurrection (Atonement)
Orpheus was determined to enter the underworld and has accomplished that. He was able to strike a deal with the gracious Persephone, who is very kind and allowed Orpheus to do two things. One of which is to leave the infamus underworld and back to Mother Earth.
Return with the Elixir
In order to leave the underworld, Orpheus must accomplish three tasks. First, Orpheus must find Chanon the ferryman. Second, he must pass the river. Lastly, Orpheus must climb the stairs that lead to the surface of the earth.
As Orpheus climbs the stairs, he must keep in mind the deal he made with Persephone. Persephone said he cant look back at the nymph, a mysteries maiden of the river/forest who Orpheus married, until they reach the surface. Now he has to resist the urge to turn back and look at his wife.
After leaving the large and hollow cavern, he was filled with happiness for be survived the perilous journey. Orpheus has shown his love by committing to the dangerous task. In the end, he succeded and got to see Eurydice once more.
