Amphimos charges toward Odysseus thinking he would be able to get out the door if he killed him with his sword. However, Telemachos used his spear and struck Amphimos in the back, killing him and saving his father.
Not before I get to you Amphimos!
I will kill you Odysseus!
After Telemachos kills Amphimos with his spear, he tells Odysseus that he believes they will need armor to survive so he will go and get some. Odysseus reminds him of the other two men on their side who need armor as well!
Father! I will go to get us armor!
Be sure to get some for the drover and Swineherd!
Telemechos runs to the store-room where he gathers enough armor for all four of their men. He gets 8 spears, 4 helmets with plumes on them, and 4 good shields. He knows that his men need to be armed for the battle.
I must make sure our men are well armed!
When Telemechos returns, the men put on their armor. However, there was still an unguarded door high on the wall, that gave the suitors a chance to escape. Odysseus asked the swineherd to go and guard it for him just in case.
Good Swineherd please guard that door!
Odysseus notices that all of the suitors are armed and he automatically assumes that there is a woman in the house who is helping them get all of the equipment. He gets really angry and asks Telemechos to figure it out.
Why on Earth are all of these men armed?
Odysseus assumed there was a woman helping but Telemechos remembers he left the door to the store room open, and he suspected Melanthios was getting the armor. Odysseus sends a man to check, and he confirms it was Melanthios.
