Storyboard Text

  •     I am going to take this land and the coffee implantation, and i am not sharing it with you!
  • Why did they make a new law that we can't share land now all the powerful people have taken the land.
  • The poor have been chased off their land from the rich and now have to work hard long hoursin the worst of conditions, but for very little pay. Some even went through starvation, extreme poverty and hardship.
  • In 1929 there was a severe slump in the price of coffee. Greedy farmers didnt plant their crops and therefore let the phesant farmers starve. this caused anger and was the cause of a protest which killed over 30000 people.
  • The uprising of peasant farmers resulted in a number of military regimes which lasted up to 50 years. Many people died at these military regimes
  • Only a small number of rich, powerful and extremely wealthy families lived in El Salvador, whilst the rest suffered either as a result of poverty or at the awful military regimes.
  • El Salvador became a really awful place to live. the military did protests and rallies. And worst of all they stopped the poor people, who were denied any kind of justice, equality or fairness, by murdering, beating and imprisoning them. If the poor people threatened the rich people's position were "called in" to get rid of the problem, including beatings, general harassment torture, abduction, rape, people disappearing and public executions. El Salvador was a horrible thing and hopefully nothing like it will happen again.
