In the early Pre-Columbian period, Alajuela was inhabited by Costa Rican indigenous.(Huetares and guatusos)
The first Spanish settlers came to Alajuela in 1650.
In 1777 the neighbors of The La Lajuela requested the royal audience of Guatemala, authorization to establish an oratory in their territory.
Over the months, many people settled near the oratory, so the neighborhood incremented their population, and people who lived far away in the fields settled in the area around the oratory.
On December 7, 1848. Alajuela was declared Costa Rica province.
It´s full of nice, friendly and funny people.
