  • Hey Ryan! Sure I'll be glad to help! Ms. Gould was trying to teach us how to calculate percent composition of a compound by using mass.
  • Hey, Rida, can you explain what Ms. Gould talked about in chem? I'm still kinda confused on what she meant.
  • There are four steps to calculating the percentage of composition by mass. First, you need to find the molecular mass of all the elements in the compound, in grams per mole.
  • Next, you have to figure out what the molecular mass of the entire compound is. You can combine all the elements' molecular mass to find this.
  • Then you take the component's molecular mass and divide it by the entire molecular mass.
  • Once you've done this, you should end up with a number between 0 and 1.
  • Multiply this number by 100%, and you should have your percentage of composition!
  • Thanks Rida! I get how to do it now!
  • Anytime Ryan! Glad I could help!
