Storyboard Text

  • Enter Benvolio, Mercutio, and Mercutio's page.
  • I'm begging you Mercutio, let's call it a day. It's hot outside and the Capulets are around, we'll certainly get into a fight.
  • You don't need to worry about me Benvolio, worry about yourself.
  • Tybalt, put aside your rage. I am no villain, I have a reason to love you.
  • Enter Tybalt, Petruchio, other Capulets and Romeo.
  • Boy! Your words can't excuse the harm you've done to me, so draw your sword.
  • This is dishonourable! Come on Tybalt, will you fight me?!
  • Tybalt and Mercutio fight.
  • This is disgraceful! Stop fighting, the Prince has banned fighting in the streets.
  • I never back down from a fight!
  • Tybalt, let's get out of here!
  • Benvolio tells Mercutio that he doesn't want to fight the Capulets and that they should leave. Mercutio responds to Benvolio by saying he doesn't need to worry about him.
  • Tybalt, Pertuchio, other Capulets and Mercutio’s page exit.
  • I have been stabbed! Curse both your families! Call a doctor and get me inside! I'm done!
  • Tybalt comes looking for Romeo, but Romeo does not want to fight because he is married to Juliet and Tybalt is her cousin. Mercutio does not like how Romeo avoids the fight so he challenges Tybalt.
  • Benvolio reenters and breaks the bad news to Romeo.
  • Oh Romeo, brave Mercutio is dead. His spirit has floated up to heaven.
  • It's time for rage to guide my actions! I am furious! Tybalt will not see another day, I will kill him myself!
  • Romeo steps between Tybalt and Mercutio while they are fighting and tells them to put their swords away. Tybalt does not stop and he stabs Mercutio.
  • Citizens enter and notice Mercutio dead.
  • If I don't do anything, Tybalt would be executed. The Prince banned fighting in the streets. I'm glad I thought this through.
  • What happened here? We need to report this.
  • Benvolio takes Mercutio inside to get help, while Mercutio is cursing the Montague and Capulet families. Romeo feels bad that his good friend has been stabbed and believes it is his fault.
  • This good gentleman Mercutio was killed defending me from Tybalt. He was a close friend and close relative to the Prince. It's my fault.
  • Benvolio breaks the bad news to Romeo. Romeo doesn't take it so good and is filled with rage. He proposes the idea of revenging Mercutio and killing Tybalt himself. But he takes a few seconds to think things through.
  • Wait, I need to think this through.
  • Romeo remembers that Tybalt would be executed because he murdered Mercutio, and there is a death penalty in Verona. Citizens walk in and notice Mercutio dead, and report it.
