Natural Selection Project

Storyboard Text

  • #1 - Overpopulation
  • #2 - Variation
  • #3 - Environment
  • The toad with the dominant allele for dark green color, reproduces with another dark green toad.
  • #4 - Struggle
  • The two toads reproduced, but there was a mutation causing the toads to have beige-colored offsprings.
  • #5 - Selection
  • A raccoon gaze notice the group of toads, but can only see the beige toads. They decide to hunt them for food.
  • #6 - Different Reproduction
  • The raccoons could only see the beige toads and eat as many as they could. The toads develop a structual adaptation being that their color changes over time.
  • The toads generation are all dark green in color now, however, some still carry the beige color allele and could give the gene to their offsprings.
  • Due to natural selection, the raccoons weren't able to eat enough toads and moved onto different prey. This allowed the toads to thrive and survive to reproduce.
