Sara and Carolina are in science class and learning about the human body. Sara is confused when her teacher said that the body systems are all working together and are all related. Carolina tries to explain.
I just don't get it. How do they all work together?
Here come with me I will tell you.
Carolina is showing Sara the different body systems so that she can see the connections later .
The nervous system has a few jobs. Receive information about what is happening around you and respond to the information. To help with homeostasis it It maintains body temperature, eliminates waste by telling the body to sweat and release all of the bad things that are not useful to us. The brain and the spinal cord are both in the nervous system
Ok I thought the skin was just there. What can it possibly do for the body?
Well, the skin protects the body from diseases and dirt, maintaining temperature by releasing sweat to keep us cool which at the same time is removing waste (all 3 are helping to maintain homeostasis) , it collects information about the outside of the body, and also it produces vitamin D. There is one organ and that is the skin itself. It is a system as well as an organ.
Now let's talk about the digestive system. It has 3 functions. To break down food so the body can use it, absorb molecules into the blood and carry them through the body, and eliminate waste through the body. It breaks down the nutrients so our body can absorb them and have enough energy and we need the nutrients to live.It breaks down the nutrients so our body can absorb them and have enough energy and we need the nutrients to live. .
Now I will tell you some examples about how they all work together and how they are alike.
The nervous, digestive, and the skin all have 3 things in common. The first one is They all perform involuntary actions. The skin sweats. The nervous system tells things to do stuff without you having to think about it, and the digestive digests your food without you having to think about it.
