  • Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
  • "He has to fly it somehow. Had to fly the plane. He had to help himself." (Paulsen 14).
  • <--- Brian
  • Brian is 13 years old, and had to land a plane by himself. He has many cuts all over, and only has a few clothes. He also has a hatchet.
  • "The crash is over and im alive." (Paulsen 33). 
  • Brian was very happy that he was alive, but also very sad that the pilot died, and that he was stranded in the middle of no where
  • One of Brian's Strongest personalities was being positive.
  • During even the toughest times, Brian was always happy. He was always looking on the brighter side of things and being thankful. He did not complain much. 
  • "'Im alive', he thought. I'm alive. It could have been different. There could have been death." (Paulsen 33).
  • 
  • In this scene Brian is very happy that he did not die from the crash like th pilot, and he is alive. 
  • Brian's trait at the beginning was, sad, bored, upset, frightened and angry
  • He missed his home.  He was alone and hungry.  He tried everything he could to make a fire and get food. He also was flightened from all the animals.
  • "All so hopeless." (Paulsen 20)
  • Brian was hopeless about the plains coming to rescue him.
  • In the middle of the story Brian was ditermined, skilled, and happy.
  • He was determined to live and trying everything he could do to stay alive
  • Brian was excited because he just made fire and it gave him another reason to live, and to cook.
  • "It was a wonderful discovery." (Paulsen, 92)
  • "First I am going to feast." Paulsen 182).
  • In the end of the story, Brian was very happy, and grateful. 
  • Brian found food in the med kit, and a helicopter came
  • The End :)
  • When he found the food he wanted to celebrate with the pilot.
