First, a macrophage is activated to destroy the virus, but the body needs to ramp up the way it fights the infection so B and T cells are activated. The B-cells make protein antibodies and label the virus as foreign. These anitbodies are made in response to the antigens. Your lymphnodes swell because there are so many lymphnocytes. Phagocytes then engulf the bacteria.
How can a fever fight infection?
Having your body at a higher temperature than normal helps the WBC fight the infection and the germs can't reproduce at high temperatures.
