  • 1816- The congress passed an act that created the Bank of the U.SA year later a branch was opended in Maryland
  • Maryland passed an act in 1818 that force a $15,000 anual tax on all banks that didn't belong to the state of Maryland. This however, only targeted the Bank of the United States.
  • James McCulloch refuse to pay Maryland force of taxes which lead to Maryland suing McCulloch in Baltimore County Court.
