most noble strangers, before answering the question you have come so far to ask, I will tell you of an incident which occurred not very long after that to which you have referred.
I have traveled far ways, as i hear you hold the far most beautiful ladies of them all among your court, and I would like you to make one my wife.
one year after "the lady and the tiger" incident, 5 noble men came from far away to finish the tale their co worker couldn't bare to see. Greeted by an officer the men beginning to tell them what they had made this long journey for, they are seated and the officer begins to tell a story.
Coming from a far distant land a prince arrives in the kings court, to ask the semi barbaric king to have him wed one of the beautiful ladies of his land to the prince. The discourager of hesitancy follows the prince to make sure he does everything exactly the way he was told by the king, if not the prince is lead to his immediate death
Man vs Man
when the king heard this BOLD announcement his face went dark red, he turned uneasily on his thrown, and all that stand in the kings court were in dread of the words that may be released from his Shivering lips
"Now, then" said the officer to the five strangers from a far country, "when you can decide among yourselves which lady the prince chose, the one who smiled or the one who frowned, then I will tell you which came out of the open door, the lady or the tiger!"
By mighty Effort the king controlled himself and granted the princes wish, he is to be married by noon tomorrow.
"Your request is granted. tomorrow at noon, you shall be wed one of the fairest ladies of the court.
After being married blindfolded the king lead the prince down a hall, to a room where nearly 40 women stand, all dressed in beautiful gowns and each one "apparently" more beautiful then the rest. The prince is forced to think quickly and take home the right bride.
Approach, and lead her forth!... But remember this: if you attempt to take away one of the unmarried ladies of the court, your execution will be INSTANTANEOUS.
There is your bride!
The prince was stuck between two women the one who frowned and the one that smiled, he had seconds left to make a choice so he grabs one by the hand and begins his life with his new bride. Thankfully it was the right bride, but which one was it? The one who frowned? or the one who smiled?
