Gallaudet goes to Braidwood
I think I am getting sea sick!
Thomas Gallaudet noticed that his neighbor's daughter, Alice, was not playing with the other kids and was languageless. He had empathy towards her because he struggled as well. This inspired Gallaudet to help her
Gallaudet meets Clerc
We will make history!
Gallaudet begins tutoring Alice to learn more about her problems and the way she interprets certain things.
First Deaf School in America founded
Gallaudet travels to Braidwood, but they refused to assist him because they guarded their "secret techniques" selfishly.
Since Bradwood refused to assist Galludet, they agreed to lend him a teacher named Laurent Clerc for 3 years. Once they meet they start expanding their knowledge along with everyone else over ASL. They begin working for new things in asl.
I am ready!!
In 1877, they opened the first deaf school in America, Alice being the first enrolled. After many years ASL has become more common and spread all over the world. Many more schools started teaching in ASL as well as teaching ASL.
