first what had started the great deppresion was the stock market crash, this made all the prices go up and all the banks to close, meaning that people lose all their money. even all the rich people. alot of jobs where lost and people became homeless.
another reason the depression started was the dust bowl. the dust bowl was a drought that made farmers lose their jobs and made food more expensive, even though people had no money. this was a huge factor in the depression.
people had had made little shack villages named hovervilles, named after the pres. that was blamed for the great deppresion.
because of the dust bowl food was scarce, and people had no money so the government had made a soup and bread meal for the people in need who dont have money for it. they had to stand in line for the meal.
when the pres. rossevelt ran, he was elected as pres. and had put more jobs out for people to get money again. people had gotten jobs like building roads or building schools and monuments.
by the end of the great deppresion there was less unemployment and more jobs being put up for employment. the dust bowl had also ended which had made food less expensive again.
