  •     The Stamp Act was a tax that Parliament passed forcing the colonists to purchase and stamp and put it on all papers and legal documents.

  • Colonists were upset because they said no taxation without representation which means that they shouldn't be taxed with out  their representatives making the decision. 
  • NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!
  • The colonists reacted to these taxes by boycotting British goods, creating protest groups like The Sons of Liberty, and burning effigies of tax collecters.
  • The colonists protests caused British businesses to loose so much money that Parliament had to repeal the taxes.

  • The Quartering Act forced colonists to provide a room or house for British soldiers and to feed them.
