Storyboard Text

  • Protagonist: Maxie
  • Antagonist: King David
  • Theme
  • Becoming leader, after her best friend Aaron dies, Maxie takes on a strong characteristic. She becomes much more bold as the story moves along. Maxie is constantly looking out for her group, she never misses a beat on when a moral boost is needed.
  • “THIS IS WHERE ARRON HARPER FELL. WE DON’T KNOW THE DAY OR THE DATE, BUT WE’LL NEVER FORGET IT. HE WAS THE BRAVEST OF US ALL.”  -Maxie
  • Even though strangers are the most dangerous, I feel David played a more important role to the plot. He basically kept kids as slaves. He treated people unfairly and would manipulate others to do his dirty work.
  • “If a wolf attacks his sheep, the shepard kills the wolf, but he eats the sheep when he's hungry.” -David
  • The theme of The Enemy is to never lose hope. The Holloway kids go through so much yet they stay strong all through out the book. They even lose there first leader and do not go a day without staying strong. The kids always stay as one and never give up on themselves or each other.
  • “I’m different,” said the Kid. “My gran always said I was half clever, half stupid, and half crazy.” -Kid
  • This was a very symbolic moment. Maxie got everyone cheering for the life of Aaron. I believe it was meant to show the groups courage and strength as one.
  • This is a metaphor used by David explaining why he keeps kids working for him. He will give them protection, but when he wants or needs something they will do it for him.
  • I picked this odd quote because it does have a meaning to it. It shows symbolism in a weird way. Not everything will make sense but its always good to be unique. The Holloway Kids were never aggressive towards others, never raided, stole, or hurt for no reason. They were different in there own cray way of getting by.
