  • In1840,theleadreformersofthismovementmetforthefirsttimeatthe WorldAnti-SlaveryconventioninLondon,behindacurtain.DespiteMott beingamotheroffourandStantonbeinganewlywedwithahigh education,thesewomeninstantlybecamefriends.Anditwasthenand therethattheyagreedthatsomethinghadtobedoneabouttheunfair treatmentofwomen.

  • 1880iswhenthesewomenmetagain,itwasthenthattheyarrangeda conventionforallwomen,thiswascalledtheSenecaFallsConvention.It washerethattheymadeadeclarationforwomen,TheDeclarationof Sentience.Itwasherethattheyalsodebatedtherighttovoteforwomen. Whilemanythoughtitwastoobigofaleap,itwasstillvotedintothe declaration.
  • Thatconventionsooncreatedanorganizedcampaignfortheequalrights ofwomeninwhichmanyinfluentialwomenshallspeakin.WhileStanton didn'tlikespeakingattheconventionshedidwriteamazing​speeches. LatershebefriendedSusanB.Anthonywhopreachedherspeechesforher acrossthenation.
  • SlowlybutsurelyadvocatesbegantomakechangesintheUnitedStates. InNewYorktheyallowedwomentohandletheirownmoneyandown property.MassachusettsandIndianapassedmoreliberaldivorcelaws. ElizabethBlackwell,oneofthemanywomenwhosignedtheDeclaration, startedherownmedicalschoolandhospital.Sadly,onlyCharlotte Blackwell​livedlongenoughtovoteforapresident.
  • Today,thefightforWomen'sRightscontinues.Womennowhavemore opportunitiestoworklikethemilitaryandmanyotherprofessionalfields andalsohaveasayinourgovernment.Buttherearestillproblemsthat needtobefixed.Whatwomen,andmostmen,arefightingfortodayare equalpay,equalopportunitiesforwomenofcolorandequaltreatmentin theworkplace.
