  • The longhorns became more valuable because the war demanded more food for troops. The longhorn is also very well suited for life in Texas, they could survive on very little water, and they were resistant to a common cattle disease called Texas Fever.
  • Kerosene is a form of fuel that could be made from oil  or coal. Kerosene was less expensive and dangerous compared to other fuels. When scientists developed this oil was needed more.
  • Railroads are a lot faster, they also can hold more people than wagons. Railroads were also cheaper than riding via wagon. Railroads are also more reliable and safe than wagons.
