Storyboard Text

  • Finally an heir! God has heard our prayers.
  • My Loius
  • Birth of the King
  • I'm shocked that he is so heathy due to the previous four failed pregnancies of the queen.
  • Claim to Power
  • I am the God given Louis XIV. I am the state and the ever shining sun of this empire.
  • He will ruin us!
  • This kid will be a pain.
  • Cost of Versailles
  • Your Highness, Versailles is lovely as ever but the state of the treasury is not. Please take into consideration the money you're spending.
  • You do not get to advise me! I am the Sun King. I shall spend the whole royal treasure if that is what pleases me!

  • Does no one understand my power? Under God's graces I hold this position, and the state shall flourish under my rule!
  • Louis XIV and the man who controlled the finances, John Baptiste Colbert, decided to tax the people more and rely on mercantilism to relieve the debt.
  • The people are not happy with the new taxes, but the mercantilism is working well to decrease the debt.
  • When Louis was dying he told his grandson this quote. Unfortunately Louis hadn't thought of this sooner before he put the kingdom into piles of debt with lots of enemies.
  • Louis, he's five...
