  • Welcome to Mohenjo-Daro, the land of the Indus River Valley Civilization.
  • People sat on the roof because it was cooler that in their houses.
  • Homes were made of mud bricks which were stronger and last longer.
  • People bathed in the Great Bath to get both physically and spiritually clean.
  • Modern Hindus still practice religious bathing to wash away their sins.
  • An Indus trader might trade terracotta pots, beads, gold and silver, metals, and colored stones.
  • Traders were responsible for bringing materials and workers needed and finishing goods to trade to other cities.
  • The toilets flushed by pouring water into them.
  • The Indus people created the first toilets and showers connected to a pipe that led to the main drain in the street.
  • A seal is a stamp that is pressed into wet clay to make an impression.
  • People used seals to show ownership of something or as a receipt because the Indus Valley people couldn't write to sign their name.
