Michelangelo was a genius of sculpting, painting, engineering, and architecture. When he was young, he shaped marbles into masterpieces like the Pieta which captures the sorrow of Mary as she cradles the dead Christ on her knees. Years later, he constructed the statue of David that recalls the harmony and grace of ancient Greek tradition.
As a young painter, he was also a very talented architecture. His most famous design of architecture was made for the Dome of St. Peters Cathedral in Rome. The design was served as a model for many later constructed structures. Like the United States Capitol.
