The Maze Runner by James Dashner has one character named Chuck who is an important part to the story. "He held out his hand. 'My name's Chuck. I was the Green Bean until you showed up' " (Dashner 14).
Character Trait (At the Beginning)
Chuck is short, chubby, and has blue eyes. Thomas meets Chuck for the first time. "...short and pudgy... He was young... Blue eyes" (Dashner 13). Chuck has unique features that develop him into a significant character in the book.
Character trait (at the middle)
Chuck's strongest trait is being trustworthy because as soon as Thomas got to the Glade, Chuck was assigned to help him for the night. "'Chuck'll be a good fit for ya'" (Dashner 11). He would have never helped if he wasn't trustworthy.
Character Trait (At the end)
Once Chuck meets Thomas, he gives him a tour. "'Don't you worry, I'll take care of you...I know the place inside and out. You can count on Chuck, okay?'" (Dashner 16). Thomas trusted Chuck from then on because Chuck doesn't want Thomas to dislike him.
Chuck is very understanding and loyal while Thomas is talking to him. "'Don't worry about it dude. No one liked him except for his few shuck cronies. They're the ones accusing you of stuff'"(Dashner 189). They trust each other enough that they have each other's backs in bad times.
At the end of the book, Chuck jumps in front of Thomas to take a knife for him. "..Chuck was there, diving in front of him"(Dashner 356). When Chuck died for Thomas, Chuck was sure to be trusted even with Thomas' life.
