Situation/Exposition: Madame Loisel is unhappy because she is not in upper-class
Complication: She claims she can't go to a upper-class party because she doesn't have a nice enough dress or jewlery.
Conflict: So Madame Loisel could attend the party with class, she kept asking her husband for more and more expensive things. She claimed she could not go if she didn't have them.
Development: Her husband gives her enough money for a beautiful dress and gives her the idea to borrow a very expensive pearl necklace from her friend.
Climax: Madame Loisel lost her friend's very expensive pearl necklace and cannot find it
Outcome/Resolution: After 10 years of paying off the debt of the necklace she was forced to buy, she found out that the necklace she lost was of much lesser value than the one she had paid to replace it with.
