"Well, I'm an anti-federalist and I don't want ratification"
"Are you a federalist?" Mary asked.
"Yes, I am" Jane replied.
"We are Anti-Federalists".
"Yes I do because we need a stronger government".
Federalists and Anti-Federalists have different opinions about ratifying the constitution.
"I heard you want the state to agree to ratify".
Federalists were mostly wealthy businessmen.
"How can you want the state to ratify, we could go back to being controlled".
"We are not going to be controlled, a strong government will protect us".
Anti-Federalists were mostly common people. They didn't want a strong central government because they thought it would be too much like having a king.
Federalists and Anti-Federalists came up with a great compromise. They both got a piece of what they wanted. If I have to choose I agree with the Anti-Federalist.
Federalists wanted a strong central government. They thought that the constitution was already complete.
Anti-Federalists wanted a bill of rights to guarantee the freedom they fought for in the revolution.
I can see both points of view, Federalist wants a strong government while Anti-Ferderalsit doesn't want the government to have to have the power they just got back.
