But I might negotiate the issue with a group of other managers and make a decision in order to stop such issues and help prevent them
A couple of months ago Sheridan Enterprise has sent two trainees as representatives to negotiate a new software deal with their Egyptian partner MH Tech, and most of it didn't go as planned
Thank you for your time Mr. Hassan, I'm Mr. Davis this is Mrs. Smith. We're here today to negotiate a new software deal as we have already discussed, because the old system was glitching and had a couple of problems with it, it must have been a problem in a specific department within the system or the whole software was broken
Hello and welcome to my office I'm Mr Hassan head of sales departments here at MH Tech. I hope you have been enjoying your visit
Oh no, I believe it was a mistake form the new worker or the the smaller ones where they typed in a wrong code
First mistake done by the representatives is blaming the system. Egypt, as a High power distance culture. wouldn't blame the mistake on the system but rather believe it was the smaller worker's or "underdog"'s fault. In addition to highly believing in hierarchy. The representatives could've avoided the whole blaming someone thing or say " we would like you to make sure it doesn't happen again"
Maybe you guys should change the way things are done around here or come up with a new innovative way to overcome simillar problems in the future
HUGE mistake right here. In countries with Low Uncertainty Avoidance like Egypt, people would resist change, and would not tend to innovate but tend to produce an accurate and perfect product instead
The representatives could've said " maybe you need to increase supervision" or simply agree with Mr. Hassan
Why change to new methods when our methods are working just fine?
And changing thing around here is difficult and takes time
In a collectivist society like Egypt this would be the right choice as the role of the group is so important people tend to finish a task in group instead of individually and celebrate group achievements
So as we discussed before we would like the new system to be more secure, and 25% faster in addition to extra storage and a strong software to hold the massive amounts of data
I believe our teams can get you what you want
And we would prefer if the glitches and problems are removed from the new systems as they were holding us off from getting things done
This part when pretty good as both countries, Canada and Egypt, are short term oriented , they prefer explaining as much as possible and they focus on quick results
Our company would like the system to be done within 15 working days we hope you're able to give us the product by that time
I don't think the teams could produce the product with these specs within this period of time. I believe that they would make a better product if you give us a period of one month
Or they could say " we assume that the software would take a while and we are willing to give you the time you need in order to get the best product possible"
Well as a feminine culture Egypt believes that making something perfect is important and for it to take its time is just as important. In this case the representative should have asked Mr. Hassan how much will it take for the sofwares to be done
Well i guess we all have reached to a consensus here. Thank you Mr Hassan for having us and were looking forward to see you tonight at this amazing restaurant we heard about
Well I wish I could accept your invitation but I have so much work to do, as you know life is hard down here in Egypt
At least they tried , but what they didn't know was that Egypt is more of a restrained country and they would prefer to do work over enjoying their leisure time , and cultures like that are pretty pessimistic
And this right here why you are being trained, so that you hopefuly don't repeat their mistake
