  • Francois Rabelais is a French humanist that had a varied career as a monk, physician, Greek scholar, and an author. He was born on February 4, 1494 in Chinon, France, meanwhile, he died on April 9, 1553 in Paris, France. 
  • William Shakespeare
  • In the novel Gargantua and Pantagruel written by Francois Rabelais, he chronicles the adventures of two gentle giants. This novel is a comic tale of travel and war. Francois Rabelais uses his characters to offer options on religion, education, and other serious subjects.

  • Humanism is the intellectual movement at the heart of the Italian Renaissance that focused on worldly subjects rather than on religious issues. In my opinion, Francois Rabelais was a humanist because all of his work and characters in his work focused on serious/worldly subjects.
