  • Death through the Cooling Twilight
  • GATSBY: "The second my hand reached the wheel I felt the shock---it must have killed her instantly." NICK: "It ripped her her open---" (143-144)
  • On the drive back from New York, Daisy runs over Myrtle by accident.  Myrtle ran out into the road to get away from George Wilson, and Daisy was unable to avoid her because of an oncoming car.  Gatsby tried to grab the wheel but he couldn't in time.  Her chest was ripped opened and likely was killed instantly.
