Storyboard Text

  • By: Mr. Arki & Miss Cook
  • The Shire (Testes)
  • Gandalf, the wise Pituitary Gland, why me? This task seems impossible and I know I must do it even if I die!
  • Frodo, my Y chromosome sperm cell friend, it is time to begin your journey! You must leave the Shire (testicle) and head to the Misty Mountains (female reproductive tract) and find the Arkenstone (egg cell) deep in the Mines of Moria (fallopian tube)
  • Entrance to the Misty Mountains (Vagina)
  • It is so dark and hot in here (vagina). I must escape these acids and push on to the other side. Gandalf once said, "There are much fouler beasts to worry about in this place."
  • Death is the fate that comes to all of us. All we have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given us
  • Doors of Durin (Cervical Opening to Uterus)
  • Courage is the best defense that you have now. Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens
  • I finally found the opening to the Mines of Moria. It looks like many of my friends have tried and failed, tried and died!
  • The sperm cell begins its Journey in the testicle.
  • The Mines of Moria (Uterus)
  • Little halfling Frodo, I am going to burn you alive and make you suffer a million deaths like the friends before you. How dare you enter my domain!
  • The sperm must navigate through the vagina, which is coated with deadly acids which kill 99% of sperm.
  • The Great Treasure Room of the Dwarf Kings (Fallopian Tube)
  • Oh Frodo, my hobbit friend, how long have I waited for you. Hurry, you must penetrate me now for I am dying, and then spill your precious cargo inside where we will become one!
  • At the upper end of the vagina is the cervix, which is the gateway to the uterus.
  • The Great Hall of Moria (Uterus)
  • Gandalf, I am ready to go back to the Shire, I have been transformed
  • The sperm cell must navigate through the vast cavity of the uterus and find the tiny entrance to the fallopian tube (uterotubal junction). However, they soon find out they are not alone (leukocyte army launched by the immune system)
  • You shall not pass! Frodo, fly, you fool!
  • Oh my God, there is a Balrog (Ancient Demon White Blood Cell) standing in my way to the Great Hallway! It aims to kill me before I can enter
  • The sperm cell is finally safe from attack in the fallopian tube where it finds the egg (which was released from the ovary during ovulation) at the upper end of the fallopian tube. Once the sperm penetrates the egg, the chromosome pairs match up (meiosis) and the zygote travels back towards the uterus.
  • I finally found you, oh great shiny Arkenstone, the wonderful, I must take you back to the hallways of Moria where we have space to grow together
  • The fertilized egg (zygote) begins the five day journey back to the uterus where the tiny bundle of cells will implant into the thick, nutrient rich, lining of the uterus (endometrium), where for the next 36 weeks it will grow and develop from embryo into a fetus!
  • Farewell my brave hobbit. My work is now finished. Here at last, on the shores of the sea...comes the end of our Fellowship. I will  not say do not weep, for not all tears are an evil
