Storyboard Text

  • Let''s talk about territory. Territory is the level of ownership one can claim in certain spaces. It can be seperated into three types  Primary, secondary and public.
  • Primary is an area that belongs to a person, example a bedroom.
  • What is a primary space?
  • Secondary is an area occuipied by  a specific person, but temporarily.
  • What about secondary?
  • And what about public?
  • Before you do, just remember, territories can be defined by 7 things, physical space, possession, defense, exclusiveness of use, markers, personalization and, identity.
  • Public areas belong to everyone, unlike primary or secondary you can't personalize them.
  • Oh, i knew that...ask me and i'll show you.
  • Ok, can you give me an example of a private space?
  • Chefs do consider kitchens as their space! Good!  What about personal space?
  • My bedroom. Or the kitchen for a chef!
  • Me too!
  • Exactly, you're pretty good at this!
  • Oh, i forgot about that,I get annoyed when persons invade mine...
  • A secondary space would be....a classroom! or a work place...
  • ok!, so secondary is next right?
  • Ok, so what about public spaces?
  • Well done Ruthanne! Maybe you should be an environmental psychologist!
  • I would pick a church or restaurant.
  • :)
