Storyboard Text

  • He will be a great ruler
  • He will be a great savior
  • This is Buddha, a great teacher, monk, and the founder of buddhism
  • Buddha real name was Guatama, but he was better known as Siddartha, "One who will achieve". He was born of a virgin birth and where ever he walked lotus flowers bloomed. Soon after his birth his mother died so he was raised by his father
  • When Siddartha was born his father was desperate to know what would become of his son so he summoned the the highest order of priest to fortell the future. They said that his life could go one of two ways.  If he stayed attached to the world he would be come a great ruler and unfiy all of India, but if he were to abandon the world, he would become a savior
  •
  • In order to keep his son attached to the world things like poverty death and sickness were never spoken of, so siddartha didn't know what any of it was. One day while riding through town he came across a young man so sick he was green, a homeless man with no where to live and no food in his stomach, and a funeral procession full of grieving loved ones.
  • After seeing the suffering of the world's people Siddartha yearned for a life with more meaning. One night he decided to leave the palace much to his fathers dismay. In fact to prevent his son from leaving his father doubled the guards surronding the palace to ensure he wouldn't escape.
  • Siddartha was alone in the world, he roamed the streets a monk and a beggar.  He mastered yoga meditation and studied religious heritage, but he still didn't know enough. One day while in town he had an epiphany. He realized that living at life's extreme was no way to live. When he was a prince and had everything you could ever want he wasn't happy, and just months ago when he was starving he was not happy. The middle was the way to go.
