Nope this book is not for me. I see the potential but it's weird.
The book was excellent. The way in which the author interwove the stories of the Monkey King and Tze yo Tzuh with Jin and Wei is reminiscent of Plato's Shadow Play. There was a whole reality that Jin was unaware of that orchestrated a good deal of his life. The messages and themes of the book are applicable to a variety of people, not just immigrants. The idea that you can become anything by selling your soul serves as a warning to anyone who would consider sacrificing their identity. Without your identity, without self assurance, all gains are meaningless.
The point of this graphic novel is to BE YOURSELF! ACCEPT who you are and embrace it forever!
