Before the United Nations agreed upon the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, some people thought it was normal to be mistreated and tortured.
Around the world, people were forced to work in horrible conditions and were tortured if they did not comply.
People were not given enough food, shelter, and basic human necessities.
The United Nations was formed and decided upon the basic human rights that every human, regardless of any differences were entitled to. One such human right was the right to NO TORTURE
This means that every human has the right to live without being tortured.
