  • Kino wakes up to his wife Juana staring at him. Later, his son is stung by a scorpion. When Kino takes his son to the doctor, the doctor refuses to take him in due to his race.
  • Man V.S. Man and Man V.S. Self
  • Kino goes to find a pearl to pay the doctor will and finds a magnificent one that is very big and Kino is sure that it will cost a lot of money.
  • Man V.S. Man
  • Kino and Juana fend off from many thieves. But Kino's greed due to the pearl grows very large.
  • When Kino gets back to his town, his boat has been attacked which enrages him. Also, his home has been set on fire.
  • Kino is followed by trackers when he and his family leave for the capital. He kills the three of them but not before they shoot his son, Coyotito, killing him.
  • Kino has had enough of the pearl and the destruction it has done to him and his family. He hurls it as far as he can in to the ocean and plans on never seeing it again.
