Gregory and Sampson are walking down the streets of Verona, talking about how much they would love to fight the Montage's. Sampson wants to abide to the law, so he lets them start the fight by biting his thumb, which is considered a rude gesture. Abram and enters the scene and asks Sampson if he is biting his thumb at him, Sampson denys to abide to the law. Benvolio enters and tells them to draw there swords, and soon a fight erupts.
we should start a fight, but to abide to the law they have to start it.
