  • The Expansions of the Roman Empire
  • We fought many wars to protect our borders and gain new land!
  • We drove out the Etruscan king and conquered our Latin neighbors!
  • Along with our allies, we control all of Italy!
  • The First Expansion: 509 BCE- 264 BCE
  • We made allies with our former enemies that we conquered!
  • We fought three major wars with Carthage!
  • Our growth threatened Carthage, a big city.
  • Through these wars we gained control of North Africa, most of Spain, and the island Sicily.
  • Our armies now control Macedonia and Greece!
  • The Second Expansion: 264 BCE- 146 BCE
  • There was many civil wars and Roman generals became dictators.
  • Rome rules the Mediterranean  world. They rule Asia Minor, Syria, Egypt, and much of Gaul!
  • caesar was murdered, the people who killed him thought thery were saving the senate's power!
  • Rome is now an empire!
  • Caesar was stabbed 23 times!
  • Caesar's   grandnephew, Octavian is now the ruler.
  • The Third Expansion: 145 BCE- 44 BCE
  • Agustus added a lot of territory, making our borders natural boundaries!
  • The Roman Empire now stretches from Britain to the Black Sea.
  • The End!
