Why didn't they ask Evans?
One day, while golfing with his friend, Bobby Jones sees a man fall off a cliff. Bobby walks over to the man and sees if he's dead or not. Then, the man opens his eyes and says "Why didn't they ask Evans?" in a strained voice. Then, a man named Roger walks over to the dead man and Bobby pulls a photo of a mysterious woman out of the man's pocket. Roger will keep eye of the corpse until the police come.
The corpse is identified as the brother of a woman named Mrs. Cayman. The death is identified as an accident. Mrs. Cayman's husband questions Bobby (on Mrs. Cayman's brother's last words), but Bobby is unable to tell him. Later, Bobby receives a job offering from South America and heads there. Then, when Bobby arrives, he is poisoned from morphine that was snuck inside of his drink.
Bobby wakes up in the hospital to find his childhood friend Frankie with him. Bobby tells Frankie all of the information about the case so far and they go on to try to investigate together. Then, after reading a newspaper, Bobby sees that there is an article on the corpse by the cliff. The article features a photograph, but Bobby knows this is not the one in the man's pocket at the time of death; it's a fake. The newspaper says otherwise. Suspicious of Roger, Frankie and Bobby look for him.
Jackie and Bobby finally find Roger's house, in which also lives his brother (Henry Bassington-ffrench) and his brother's wife. Jackie and Bobbie realize that the man is not related to Mrs. Cayman. Henry appears that he is a drug addict, and Sylvia (Henry's wife) says that the corpse looked a lot like Alan Carstairs, a friend of a millionaire named John Savage who killed himself after realizing he had terminal cancer.
Since Henry is a drug addict and the Bassington-ffrenches live next to a doctor, Jackie and Bobby go over to his house. The doctor's name Dr. Nicholson and his wife is named Moira. Later, Bobby sees Moira in a restaurant and Moira tells Bobby that she knew John Savage before her marriage and that Dr. Nicholson is trying to kill her. Bobby and Frankie realize that this case might have drug ties, as Henry seemingly commits suicide in a garden with Dr. Nicholson suspected as killer.
I could not fit the whole description in this text box, so I put it under this picture in the Google Doc.
