  • What is Government?
  • Government is a set of rules and institutions that people CITIZENS set up in order to function together as a unified society.
  • Citizens are either born in the country or obtain their citizenship and can participate in an informed way. In doing so they become GOOD ACTIVE CITIZENS!
  • POLITICS is how power is distributed. It involves the decisions of who holds office and how the individual and or groups make those decisions.
  • In both a REPUBLIC and a DEMOCRACY supreme power rests in the body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them.
  • Republic VS Democracy
  • A REPUBLIC typically follows a constitution, in order to ensure that the elected official to lead the government does not upset the rights which citizens have been given for equality. A DEMOCRACY government permits its citizens to vote for the individuals who they trust and they feel will value citizen’s rights and opinions.
  • It makes the difference between being LED and being a LEADER
  • Anyone can be a citizen but in order to be a GOOD and ACTIVE citizen you must be educated
  • It requires an understanding of how government works, and how we can participate.
  • Knowledge is POWER!!!
