Hi, we are the three forms of rocks that can be found here on earth. I'm sedimentary.
And I'm Igneous!
We are here to tell you our stories. What we are and how we are formed. I'm going to start
I'm sedimentary rock. If you look at the rock I am sitting on, you can see that part of it has crumbled away. This crumbled rock ends up somewhere, usually at the bottom of a lake, river, or ocean. Over time, lots of other crumbled rock piles on top of it. It really squishes the pieces of the rock on the bottom. The water in it is squished out as well and the bits of rock all get glued together. That is how sedimentary rock is made. Sometimes you can find fossils in me! Pretty cool, right?
I'm Igneous! I am formed from Magma that is underneath the crust. Sometimes I break through the crust and slowly cool down in there, I am known as Intrusive Igneous when that happens. Another way I can form is if come out of a volcano! When I explode out of a volcano I cool pretty quickly. I am known as Extrusive Igneous when that happens.
I'm metamorphic rock, that means I used to be some other kind of rock. I am formed at the very bottom of mountains and deeper where there is a whole lot of heat and pressure! Any kind of rock can become metamorphic. Even I could become another metamorphic rock if I am put under heat and pressure again.
Well, that is our story! Thanks for listening. Look down and say hi to us sometime. Bye for now!
