Storyboard Text

  • Hi! I'm Charles Darwin, some know me as the 'father' of evolution. Welcome to the Galapagos Islands!
  • Galapagos Islands
  • The Galapagos Islands were untouched by humans for thousands of years. This allowed species to grow without being disturbed.
  • Nature!
  • I spent 36 days here, and you won't believe the observations I made.
  • Lizards, for example, began to swim into the water and feed off of the algae off the rocks. They're able to do this because they're not being preyed upon.
  • Animals learned to adapt and evolve  ADAPTATION-Inherited characteristics that increase an organisms chances for survival (genetic) EVOLUTION-The process of change over time
  • -Darwin found fossils of past animals that were similar     -Geography plays a key role in animal development; similar species developed various adaptations depending on the food sources in the environment
  • Evolution Notes-
  • I made some of my greatest observations I made through the anatomy of the pieces I studied. Most animal species had similar skeletal structures. Although animals had same bones, some went unused or were used for different functions
  • Although animals had same bones, some went unused or were used for different functions

  • Animals evolved over millions of years, natural selection, adaptation, and reproduction played important rolls in the development of the species we know today.
  • The End!
