Storyboard Text

  • Hi Mother and Father!
  • I am going into battle and if I die, you are chief.
  • The Americans want to take away our traditions and way of life including our nomadic lifestyle. We can't let that happen.
  • Quanah's Father was Peta Nocona, a Comanche Chief. His mother was Cynthia Ann Parker, a white woman who was taken captive during a raid on Parker's Fort, in 1836.
  • Victory is ours!
  • Quanah's father died while defending an encampment on the Pease River against Texas Rangers. Because of this, Quanah became chief.
  • I agree on living in the reservations, and getting the guaranteed money from the government.
  • Quanah Parker did not agree with the Treaty of medicine Creek lodge and planned attacks on the U.S.
  • I am doing as much as I can to protect my fellow Comanches. As well as make a difference.
  • In a very important battle, The Battle of Adobe Walls, the Native Americans lost the battle, and Quanah Parker nearly lost his life.
  • The Comanches became hungry and weak, so Quanah and the rest of the Indians  surrendered for reservation life.
  • After Quanah Parker agreed to reservation life, he negotiated grazing rights with Texas Cattlemen, invested in a railroad, learned English, became a reservation judge, and pleaded the cause of the Comanche Nation.
