Conflict: Character vs. Self - Midas has an obsessive want to be wealthy and hold power. Midas provides great hospitality to Silenus. In return, Dionysus grants Midas’ wish to turn everything he touches into gold.
Midas realizes he made a big mistake when he finds out he can't eat or drink anything. He sets out to find Dionysus and find a way to rectify the situation.
Midas warns his daughter to keep her distance from him, yet she still hugs him. She ends up turning into gold. Midas is distraught and hopes he can save her.
Midas pleads with Dionysus to forgive him and asks him what he should do to fix the problem caused by his greed. Dionysus says to go to a river and wash himself and Midas sets out to do that.
Midas arrives home and is so happy to hear his daughter laugh again. Evidently, Midas learns his lesson.
