  • 1830's - Education Reform - Lead by, Horace Mann. Horace Mann helped establish American public schools, and made education easily available. He helped change people’s opinions toward education and made it a more important aspect of children’s lives. His words helped people to realize the importance of education and gave it more value.
  • “Our means of education,” he stated, “are the grand machinery by which the ‘raw material’ of human nature can be worked up into inventors and discovers, into skilled artisans and scientific farmers.”
  • Education is necessary
  • Education was not easily available to children and all kinds of people. Wealthy parents would send their children to private schools or hire tutors. There were very few public schools, and most teachers had limited education and received very little pay. Only boys and men could to go to school or get education.
  • SAY YES TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS!
  • THE BEST SCHOOL EVER
  • YES!!!
  • I am now perfectly trained, I can teach these students and also earn a good pay. Its a beautifull classroom!
  • YES! Now we can come to school!
  • YES!! Now African Americans are also aloud!
  • Most children simply did not go to school. This was wrong, and all children should have the right to education regardless of poor or rich. Even females and African Americans, were not given the right to education.
  • I love my Job!
  • Horace Mann became the state’s supervisor of education, and spoke out on the need for public schools in villages and towns. His words helped people to realize the importance of education and gave it more value. When Mann became the first president of a college for men and women, he urged his students to become involved in improving society.
  • We need Public Schools
  • Horace Mann has established so many public schools and has provided education for all women and men. Education is now easily available. There are no restrictions in terms of education now, and all types of people shall be able to succeed and have importance in life. Wealthy or poor, there’s an opportunity for all to have limitless education and be successful.
  • Wow!
  • Without the education reform, schools and education systems wouldn’t have been so uplifted in this future. Children are highly encouraged. Teachers can now get the training they need and be able to teach by earning a higher pay than ever before. And most of all, African Americans, and all kinds of people with any religion/cast/gender are able to get limitless education.
