JFK once said "This nation was founded by men of many nations and backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men are created equal and the rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened."
The motorcade made its way through downtown Dallas. At 12.30pm, the car turned off Main Street at Dealey Plaza. As it passed the Texas School Book Depository, gunfire was heard and JFK was fatally shot in the neck and head.
The car quickly drove to Parkland Memorial Hospital, just a few minutes away. JFK was given the last rites by a Catholic priest and he was confirmed dead at 1pm. Public reaction to JFK's assassination was overwhelming grief and shock. Women fainted and men cried.
It would have been JFK's 100th birthday on the 29th of May 2017. His family reflected on his life, remembering how good a person he was and what an amazing President he was during his life.
