  • U.S. and British pilots begin delivering food and supplies by airplane to west Berlin after the city is isolated the Soviet Union.

  • The Berlin blockade was one of the first major crises of the cold war causing west berlin to have denied acssess to roads,canals,and railroads;however the Western Allies organised the Berlin airlift to carry supplies to the people of West Berlin.
  • LESSON LEARNED
  • Stalin blockaded the border between East Germany and West Germany, cutting off rail, canal and road shipments of supplies to West Berlin ,the U.S. was  involved in an order to stop communism.
  • The U.S. Air Force were involved in the Berlin airlift when the U.S. at the time was lacking ground forces to punch through the blockade.
  • oh darn
  •  Valuable lessons were learned,the Berlin airlift was a proving ground for air transport, showing the feasibility of sustained,and round-the-clock mass movement of cargo by air.
